My colleagues often call me Skinny Toan. I think it is true since
I am really skinny. I love this job and I am happy that I am now able to work
with CPI.
Toan is the newest member of the CPI staff. She is a welcome addition and
runs a tight ship!
Tran Duc
Logistics Coordinator
My job description:
· Maintain daily vehicle logs.
· Prepare logistics reports required for tracking transportation and
associated costs, such as vehicle maintenance.
· Handle all vehicle related procedures, such as registration and insurance.
· Provide interface between CPI Viet Nam and contractors, such as telecom
and office rental
· Driving as needed by other staff
I like this job very much, so I want to work for CPI for a long time.
Mr. Duc is the wind under all our wings here in Viet Nam: when something
needs to be found and procured, some deal needs to be finagled or some bad stretch
of road finessed, he gets the job done. He seems to know every cop and market
woman from Dong Hoi to Da Nang, and all sorts of folks who fall in between.
Generally, if he can't manage to make it happen, it's not possible.
Le
Thi Yen Nhi
Office Manager
My job description:
· Oversight responsibility for coordination of office and field activities.
· Project bookeeping .
· Organization of all correspondence, agreements, and supporting documentation
materials .
· Data entry for statistical projections in preparation for generation
of project proposals.
· Secondary cashier
· Procurement of office supplies
· Oversight of assigned beneficiaries as necessary.
I really enjoy this job and wishing to work for CPI.
Ms. Nhi came to us recently and has proved a welcome addition to the staff
here. She's a very down to earth young woman: our beneficiaries feel comfortable
with her, and she for her part feels very protective of them. She is pro-active
in organizing all the beneficiary documentation, as well as the letters, faxes
and other bits of vital and not-so-vital information we need to reference in
our day to day work.

Tran Hong Chi
Position: Program Manager
Nickname: G-Man
My job description:
· Oversight responsibility for all program activities, including but
not exclusive to:
o Reconciliation of monthly and overall project expenses with Project Coordinator.
o Oversight of bookkeeping with and quarterly audits by independent accountant.
o Approval of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting to CPI US.
o Development, negotiation and implementation of Viet Nam projects with staff
and local working partners in Quang Tri and other project locations.
o Staff development & training.
o Interface with other NGO's as needed to provide assistance to beneficiaries,
or further other cooperative activities.
o Host foreign donor delegations to project sites.
o Provide primary interface of CPI Viet Nam with local working partners.
o Collate all materials requisite to submission of quarterly, semi-annual and
annual reporting to local working partners and relevant agencies.
I enjoy what I've been doing and wish that I can contribute more to the CPI
activities.
Mr. Chi has proven himself time and again with a calm, assuring manner,
whether dealing with benficiaries, Party officials, working partners or staff,
and is widely respected for his translation and negotiating skills. He formerly
worked as Program Coordinator with UXB, our contractor on the recently finished
UXO clearance project, where he shone. Now, he turns his considerable talents
to managing the Accident Survivor Assistance Program and we are very pleased
to have him aboard.
Phan
Thi Ai Phuong
Position: Project Coordinator
My job description:
· Oversight responsibility for direct project implementation and documentation,
including but not exclusive to:
o Collection of data and documentation for case studies and other relevant elements
of fund-raising and presentation
o Coordination of beneficiary treatment and treatment plans
o Project cashier: disburse and reconcile funds advanced to staff for project
implementation
o Daily coordination with working partners to serve benficiaries
o Coordination of Medical Liasion activities
o Responsible for primary relationship with cooperating hospitals and local
working partners
o Collate and present, to both CPI US and local working partners, statistical
data for generation of project proposals
I am Ms. Detail on the project and I like my job very much. I am always
challenged and so always learning.
Ms. Phuong has been the backbone of the Accident Survivor Assistance Program.
What she doesn't know about what we do and how to get it done isn't known yet,
and I can honestly say she knows more about applied (meaning non-theoretical)
UXO survivor assistance than any other person in Viet Nam. She has excelled
in program development with myself and local working partners, finding the holes
and plugging them, finding the openings and exploiting them. She keeps track
of the million things we do, and with recent staff expansion she is able to
share what has been a tremendous load.
