Melody Mociulski
SE Asia Program Director
A native of the Seattle area, Melody Mociulski worked for the City of Seattle
for twenty-four years prior to retiring in 2004. Melody’s career with
the city included an eclectic combination of procurement, finance, human
resource and social service roles. Her strengths in strategic policy development,
innovation and change management positioned her well to spearhead Seattle’s
evolution into procurement re-engineering and technology expansion while
serving as Seattle’s Purchasing Director. Melody’s forte is conceptualizing
and marketing new initiatives and fostering their acceptance and implementation,
as evidenced by her project management role in the City’s nationally
recognized “Copernicus” procurement model. Melody received her
Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Washington in 1972.
A firm believer in “life outside of work”, Melody has always been
an avid traveler with a keen interest in other cultures. Whether it was Afghanistan
and India in the 1970’s, China in the early 1980’s, numerous jaunts
to Europe, or volunteering at Thailand’s Elephant Nature Park, she has
always enjoyed the anticipation of the planning, the joy of the moment and
the everlasting memories of the people and experiences. Her local paradise
is her Bainbridge Island home, shared with husband Michael and cocker Sammi,
enhanced by frequent visits from her beautiful daughter Tatiana.
Retirement brought Melody the freedom and time to pursue new ventures in consulting,
to return to piano, serious gardening and to seek opportunities to “give
back” through volunteer work. The latter became Melody’s introduction
to Clear Path and its international mission. After committing extensive time
and energy to Clear Path as volunteer Special Projects Coordinator, Melody
officially joined the CPI team as SE Asia Program Director in November, 2008,
with oversight responsibility for Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia programs.
