I write this morning with good news and an urgent request, for the victory of a lifetime may be at hand.
After 49 years and 60 million children lost, the U.S. Supreme Court has reportedly voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. Someone inside the Court leaked Justice Samuel Alito’s draft majority opinion, which is believed to be joined by Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett.
Three of those five, of course, were appointed by President Donald Trump – the most effective pro-life president America has ever had. It was Trump who, in 2016, publicly released the names of possible Supreme Court nominees he would consider – and stuck to it. I was proud to serve as a volunteer on that project. And I am even prouder of CPI’s work coordinating conservative organizations in the four-year fight to confirm President Trump’s judicial nominees.
Generations of conservatives’ tireless work, President Trump’s courage, and your unwavering support have led us, finally, to the doorstep of history.
And understand, this is no partial victory. Alito’s draft is a complete evisceration of Roe. It pulls no punches and gives no quarter:
“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences… It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
Amen.
But this fight is not yet won. Last night’s leak was a shocking breach of trust and institutional norms. And it was only the beginning. The Left now has one objective: to bully, intimidate, and perhaps even threaten the five true Justices to change their minds.
Liberal politicians will be out in force introducing sweeping legislation to save Roe and pressure the Court. Conservatives must match their determination, but not their desperation. For us, this is a moment for cautious, prayerful optimism. For 49 years, we have played by the rules, trusted the Constitution, and made the case for Life to our neighbors and nation. Victory over Roe is not just a judicial or political win but a cultural triumph that we must make the first and not the last of a new era.
So my request this morning is not for contributions or phone calls or emails, but your prayers: for the five Justices, our cause, and our country.
The fight for the unborn will continue, and CPI will be there: defending the Court, the Constitution, the science, and, of course, defending the babies. The Left is on the run, and we are on the march today, with humble confidence that finally – finally – Life found a way.
