State and Federal Lawmakers Gather in Atlanta for Launch of New State Freedom Caucus Network

December 22nd, 2021

ATLANTA, GA – The launch of a powerful new network of conservative state freedom caucuses kicked off on Dec. 14, 2021, with a major event at the state capitol building featuring state and national lawmakers.

The event marked the launch of the State Freedom Caucus Network (SFCN), a new 501(c) (4) social welfare organization that will establish and support conservative caucuses in every state legislature in America. The event also celebrated the launch of the first caucus in the network: The Georgia State Freedom Caucus (GSFC).

The SFCN will provide year-round staffing, strategy, and policy support to state caucuses and keep conservative state lawmakers unified on legislative priorities. Over the next several years, the SFCN will magnify the influence of the most conservative state legislators and help them overcome the Establishment in their states.

State freedom caucuses will be modeled after the successful House Freedom Caucus (HFC) in the U.S. Congress. Like the HFC, these new state caucuses will receive educational and charitable support from the Conservative Partnership Institute (CPI) via the new State Freedom Caucus Foundation.

Georgia State Senator Greg Dolezal will lead the GSFC. He and other members of the new Georgia caucus were joined at the Atlanta event by lawmakers from more than a dozen other states, including Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.

Also in attendance were members of the HFC, CPI donors and supporters, party chairs, local media, CPI and SFCN staff, and other state and national leaders.

State lawmakers’ response to the SFCN has been overwhelming, with many calling state freedom caucuses long overdue. State lawmakers say they face similar pressures as federal lawmakers in Washington and often lack the staff expertise and the time to make headway on important issues.

SFCN and CPI, which will provide educational materials and conduct training programs for SFCN, will fill this void.

CPI Chairman Sen. Jim DeMint, who spoke at the event’s opening luncheon, acknowledged and lauded the sacrifice made by state legislators as they fight to protect American freedoms. The former businessman turned U.S. Senator shared his own experience and the values that inspired him to run for office.

Another highlight of the Atlanta launch event was the appearance of CPI Senior Partner Mark Meadows, who co-founded the HFC in 2015 and serves on the board of SFCN. In his remarks, Meadows encouraged conservatives in the states to stand strong against the leftist agenda and not be intimated.

Meadows’ remarks were especially meaningful in light of the vitriolic attacks and contrived accusations he has faced from House Democrats related to Jan. 6.

Numerous media outlets took notice of Meadows’ remarks, the event, and the incredible impact that the SFCN will have. The event was covered by Fox News, Breitbart, The Washington Examiner, The Associated Press, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, MSNBC, New York Magazine, and the Florida Phoenix, among other outlets. Radio host Erik Erickson also discussed the launch on his popular podcast.

The SFCN will be led by Andy Roth, the former executive director of the Club for Growth Foundation. Roth created the club’s influential state-level “scorecard” of government corruption and built relationships with dozens of state legislators who will be instrumental in the new state caucuses.

Roth will be joined by Justin Ouimette, whose experience as the policy director, legislative director—and most recently—the executive director of the HFC, will be crucial to the success of the SFCN.

The SFCN aims to launch anywhere from 10 to 15 state caucuses in 2022. The next state freedom caucuses to launch will be Mississippi in January, followed by Arizona, Illinois, and Connecticut.
